Ryanair opened the £8m Glasgow Prestwick maintenance hangar
Ryanair's Chief Executive Michael O'Leary together with Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond officialy opened the second 6,000 square metre hangar at the Glasgow Prestwick airport.
Ryanair grows successfully in Scotland planning for more cheap flights to this region.
Prestwick winning in other bases tight competition
Five other bases across Europe were striving to win this deal. Eventually, Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) got it with a great support from the Scottish government. The second maintenance hangar at Prestwick covers 6,000 square meters and will provide 200 new engineering jobs. The base will now be maintaining most of the airline's 260 aircraft fleet.

Ryanair still growing in Scotland
With the opening of the new hangar, Ryanair strengthens it's presence in Scotland. In the official press release, Michael O'Leary promises for more cheap flights to/from Scotland. Currently the airline operates at Glasgow Prestwick, Aberdeen and Edinburgh (EDI) airports.
