Cuddle class – bringing more comfort to economy class passengers
Until now, all the efforts to make one's journey on a plane more pleasant, were aimed at the business or first class passengers. The majority of passengers traveling economy have only seen attempts to take their comfort away. But no more. Recently, a new seating possibility has been released for economy class passengers. The cuddle class.
From now on, economy class passengers won't have to be sitting throughout the flight. A newly designed seat will allow them to create sort of a platform to lay on. It will be done by raising the redesigned footrest and putting away the armrests. The first airline to actually implement this is Air New Zealand under the brand SkyCouch. This feature will be available on their soon to be arriving Boeing 777–300ER.
Having a second thought about this, some downsides arise. First, not always you are traveling with someone you actually might want to sleep next to. This is only suitable for couples or family with a child. Concerning there will only be space for two passengers on each row containing three seats, some extras are likely to be paid.
Even considering the small glitches, this service is definitely worth spreading. Imagine how much more bearable would a London Heathrow (LHR) – New York – John F. Kennedy (JFK) flight be able to sleep actually.
