Wizz Air: new hand baggage policy
Wizz Air has announced a new, altered cabin baggage policy.
From now taking your bigger bag on board may cost you money!
The announcement was hardly a surprise. When Wizz Air introduced new rules on Katowice – London route for trial period, everyone kind of knew that extending the hand baggage fee to all routes was a question of when, not if.
The new rules are heavily promoted as a measure aiming at increasing the comfort of travelling, decreasing delays and so on and so forth. It all comes down to Wizz Air following in the footsteps of certain American airlines. Let's have a look at the details:
|small bag||42×32×25cm||laptop bag, handbag (under the sit)||free|
|large bag||not larger than 56×45×25cm||trolley bag (in the overhead bin)||€10|
In both cases the weight cannot exceed 10 kg. In addition, you're allowed to bring onboard goods you bought in duty free shops at the airport. The new rules go into effect October 4, 2012 and apply to flights in period from October 24, 2012 on.
To make this move more palatable to its customers, Wizz Air has launched a promotion – the price of all fares booked via its website has dropped by €5.
