Vueling: luggage allowance 2013. A brief summary

Back to news

Have you ordered an air travel with the Spanish Vueling and wonder about the baggage allowance of this low-cost airline? Read on.

Vueling: Hand luggage

The amount of baggage you can take onto the plane when travelling as a basic fare passenger with Vueling is one item weighing up to 10 kilograms and not exceeding the size of 55×40×20 cm. We suggest you take this seriously as non-compliance with these rules will result in extra spendings: €25 per bag each way.

Vueling: Checked luggage

As a basic fare passenger, you have to pay extra charge for your checked baggage. You can purchase and check in one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg. The Internet fee as well as the customer service fee ranges from €12 to €22 per bag/customer depending on the destination. The price at the airport is €25.

If you find the weight allowance too skimpy, you may always buy some extra kilos and pay the excess baggage fee of €12. This rate applies both when contacting the customer service and at the airport. The maximum weight allowed is 32 kilograms per bag and

The above applies to the basic fare. Vueling offers also Optima and Excellence fares with other complimentary services and more generous allowance. Find out more on the website of Vueling

I purchased a Vueling optima fare for my sister who also needed the unaccompanied minor services. To the best of my knowledge, baggage allowance is inclusive with the optima fare.
With the departure flight, she was able to Check in. However with the return flight, they (the vueling employees at the airport) told her that she cannot check in baggage even though she has an optima fare ticket. She had to pay baggage allowance at the airport.
This happened with flights from Amsterdam - London Luton (24-12-2016) (Departure flight)
    London Luton (08-01-2017) (Return Flight)
Please can someone explain if this is normal or she should have had baggage allowance with the optima fare without paying at the airport.

    Hi Carolyn,
I'm afraid Vueling is quite strict with this - you should fit all your stuff in one cabin bag.

Am I allowed to take my handbag separately to the cabin bag or does the handbag have to be in the cabin bag.....I am flying to Mallorca on 14th October

    Hi alyssa,

yes, exactly - you can carry only one piece of hand luggage for free and should pay attention to the dimensions the airline allows. I would advise you to put the shoulder bag into the other bag when flying that could solve your problem. Checked baggage is paid with Vueling - the price varies according to the destination as written in the article.

im guessing (but want to ask just to make sure) that one bag means one bag, not a small shoulder bag weighing 3ilb and a carry weighing 10ilb like other services. thank you.

    Hi Lino & Elizabeth,

At first let me tell you one important thing - entering all the reference numbers won't help you a lot here because WhichAirline doesn't represent Vueling in any way. We are simply an independent website.
If I were to guess, I'd suggest the following - why not try "manage my booking" option in "your booking" tab in the upper menu bar? Select this option, enter you booking code and email and then add luggage.

good luck and thanks for visiting us!

We have already paid E12 for 10kilograms of checked baggage & would like to pay for another E12 for another 10kilograms of checked baggage. How do we go about doing this. We are booked on flight no:VY2510 on 08/06/2013 from Bilbao to Seville. We have already written to Vueling Airlines about this query - SR_ number: 1-1381940512 and flight no:Vy2011 on 12/06/2013 from Granada to Barcelona. We have also already written to Vueling Airlines about this query - reference number: SR_number 1-1381940530.
Can you please urgently inform us as to how to go about paying and acquiring additional 10 kilograms on each of the above mentioned flights?
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Yours Sincerely,
    Lino & Elizabeth De Cruz,
