Swiss Airlines' check-in options

Are you about to fly with Swiss Airlines and wonder how to check in?
No worries, we'll help you out. Just read on.
Swiss Airlines: online check-in and mobile check-in
Save your precious time and check in via internet on the website of Swiss International Air Lines. This option is available from 23 hours to 1 hour prior to departure time. All you have to do is to enter your first name, last name and e-ticket number.
Now you can choose where you want to seat and print your boarding card. It also allows a group of travellers to check-in. Once at the airport, drop your baggage at a dedicated counter.
As for boarding card, you can also have it sent on your mobile phone. Alternatively, you can check in using your mobile device. Swiss Airlines' mobile check-in works pretty much as web check-in. You will receive your boarding card in form of a bar code. Remember – mobile boarding card can be used on many, though not all, airports. Visit the website of Swiss Airlines and find out if your airport of departure is on the list.
Swiss Airlines: airport check-in
When you arrive at the airport, you can avoid the queues by taking advantage of check-in machines available at Zurich Airport, Vienna Airport and a couple of German airports. Log in using the ticket bar code, passport or credit card you paid for your ticket with and follow hints on the screen. Then drop off your checked baggage (assuming you have any) and go to your gate.
Alternatively, you can go to the check-in counter and have the staff check you in. Remember to arrive at the airport in time. Check-in times vary depending on the destination but there are some rules:
- European destinations: closes mostly 40–45 minutes before departure
- North American Destinations: closes mostly 75 minutes before departure
- Dubai, Dar es Salaam, Sao Paulo: closes 90 minutes before departure
