Ryanair to open new bases and more airline news
Read our airline news and stay up to date with the latest development within aviation worldwide.
We start off with the self-appointed world's favourite airline, the Ryanair which, as rumour has it, will open its first bases outside Europe: in Marrakesh Airport and Fez Airport. This is not all. It seems that Irish low-cost airline has an unquenchable appetite for new routes as Michael O'Leary disclosed a couple of days ago he aims to establish a domestic network in Norway within 3 years.
Good news for travellers in both the Czech republic and Latvia. The Latvian-based airBaltic added the Czech capital city Prague with Riga. Direct flights on the Riga- Prague route are already available on the website of the airline.
Now for some discontinued routes. Amidst the row over refuelling as well as because of low profitability both Austrian Airlines and the Air France-KLM withdraw from the Iranian market. Austrian Airlines' very last flight to Tehran took place January 13 whereas Air France-KLM is going to suspend their flights from Amsterdam in April. The German Lufthansa hasn't abandoned its Frankfurt – Tehran route yet but announced it'd reduce the capacity.
